The emirate of Kuwait is situated on the Arabian Peninsula in the Persian Gulf. In the capital, Kuwait City, the Al Shaheed Park, 355,000 m² in size, has been developed as a link between the city centre and the outskirts of the city. The work was carried out in two phases to date. This green belt is the most significant infrastructural project in Kuwait and is at the same time, at 55,000 m², the largest green roof project ever undertaken in the Arab world. The complete greening of all underground car park roofs here allowed for the creation of a continuous parkland.

The ZinCo system build-up “Roof Garden” provides a permanently reliable base for the permanent establishment of lawns, perennials and shrubs, and even trees on roof areas. The drainage element Floradrain® FD 60 neo may even be concreted as a sub-structure for driveways or for foundations for play equipment, railings, pergolas and other structures.
Extensive green roofs are easily established on roof pitches provided the special features of the roof are taken into consideration. ZinCo has created technically sound solutions for all kind of pitched roofs up to 35°.

An architectural wonder with a glass crown of waves: the Elbphilharmonie, affectionately known as “Elphi”, has established itself as a new landmark in the Hanseatic City of Hamburg, after much squabbling during the construction period. The modern glass building above the multi-storey red-brick façade of the old Kaispeicher A warehouse on the River Elbe comprises two world-class auditoriums, apartments, a hotel, restaurant facilities and a Plaza at a height of 37 m that is accessible to the public.

The new Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) is a symbol of education, culture and sustainability, both for the people of Greece and in the wider international context. This project was awarded LEED Platinum Certification and is the largest construction project in recent Greek history. The buildings house the Greek National Opera (NGO) and the National Library of Greece (NLG) and are literally embedded in the open park that stretches over an area of 17 hectares.

About 7,000 m² of green roof contribute to the incorporation of the UWC building complex. Similar to the adjacent hilly landscape, the roofs are undulating like waves. The ZinCo system build-up with Floradrain® FD 40-E provides for the wild greenery on the roofs.
The innovative ZinCo systems “Stormwater Management Roof”, “Urban Climate Roof”, “Irrigated Extensive Green Roof” and “Biodiversity Green Roof” all have revolutionary potential, which is the power to introduce sustainable structural change in the area of green roofing.
The roof garden supplies the kitchen with tasty ingredients and at the same time is part of the educational programme at “Le Cordon Bleu”. In addition, the roof is home to four bee hives and an insect hotel. A wonderful example of urban farming, because rooftops with the right ZinCo green roof are ideal for use as a cultivation area.
Commissioned by Aral AG, the architect Manfred Beier courageously designed a curving green roof in the shape of a wave for a motorway service station. ZinCo supplied the appropriate technology with the system build-up “Pitched Green Roof”.
The new ZinCo system build-up “Irrigated Extensive Green Roof” with its highly efficient capillary irrigation system manages to strike a balance between a cost-effective solution and the permanent proper functioning of a green roof in dry climates.
